Use these indexes to identify articles, conference papers etc. from scholarly sources.


LLBA (1973-present)
Covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Complete coverage is also given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics. Updated five times per year. No full text.

ERIC (1966-present)
Over 800,000 references to thousands of educational topics including language learning and linguistics from the Educational Resources Information Center. Includes journal articles, books, theses, curriculi, conference papers, and standards and guidelines. 1966 to the present. Updated monthly.

  • Search by author, title, subject, keywords, date, call number, or ISBN/ISSN.

Basic linguistic terminology with clear and extensive explanations. Location: Marriott Library General Reference, Level 3, P 29 .C65 1997.

Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics
This is a ten-volume comprehensive source on languages and linguistics. Includes bibliographies. Location: Marriott Library General Reference, Level 3, P 29 .E48 1994.

International Encyclopedia of Linguistics
A four-volume source of information on all branches of linguistics and interdisciplinary topics. It provides detailed information on the world's language families, and contains bibliographies at the ends of articles and a glossary in the last volume. Routledge Dictionary of Language and Linguistics
This dictionary describes individual languages, language families, and ethnolinguistic groups, as well as introducing linguistic concepts in descriptive, comparative, and applied linguistics. Location: Marriott Library General Reference, Level 3, P 29 .B875 1996.

Linguistics: A Guide to the Reference Literature

This site, formerly housed at Bucknell University, claims to be the web's most authoritative and comprehensive language portal. It contains a well-maintained list of links to online dictionaries, grammars, and thesauri.Human-Language Page
This is a comprehensive list of language-related internet sources, including schools and organizations as well as translating dictionaries and online language lessons.
