This is
the best database for information on the chemical composition and basic
chemical properties of materials and adhesives. SciFinder provides access
to the chemical literature in CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) databases.
That includes over 16 million journal articles, patents and other documents
and more than 24 million substance records in the CAS Chemical Registry
database. While heavily chemical in nature, its coverage is of chemistry
and chemical applications in the broadest sense. The substructure and
reaction searching features offer unique searching options.

and applied chemistry. Topics include organic and inorganic chemistry,

Compendex

The primary scholarly
index for much of Engineering, indexing over 2600 engineering journals
and conferences. Search the scholarly Compendex index or search engineering
web pages on the internet. It provides abstracted information from the
world's significant engineering and technological literature, some 2,600
international journals, conference papers and technical reports. Each
year 220,000 new abstracts are added from 175 disciplines and major specialities
within engineering. Eighty five percent of its coverage is core, meaning
that all substantive articles from a given journal are abstracted and
15% is selective, meaning that only some articles from a given journal
are abstracted.

chemical and process engineering (15%), computers and data processing
(12%), applied physics (11%), and electronics and communication (12%)
civil engineering (6%) and mechanical engineering (6%). Other topics

Inspec (also called
Axiom) is the premier scholarly index for Electrical Engineering, Physics,
Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology. The database
contains more than 7,000,000 abstract records and each year adds 330,000
new abstracts; 4,000 journals and 2,000 conference proceedings are added
each year. Some coverage of books, reports, theses and disssertations
is also included.. This is not a good index for novices or for popular
information in these fields.
